The best measure of a coach is not by their own medals and titles, but by the progress and achievements of their students.

“My first shooting lesson with Ed was booked by my husband, I had my first grouse day coming up and I needed a proper lesson. Ed was absolutely fantastic he could see lots of things that I was doing wrong including explaining to me I was cross eye dominant, and offered a simple solution; this was a massive help

He also understood how I measured lead as I don’t seem to measure in feet at the bird but in inches at the barrel (no idea why) I was made to feel comfortable and by the end of the lesson i knew my game  shooting  would be better.

Ever since then I have enjoyed a lesson with Ed anytime I have a game day coming up, I make sure to get a lesson in just to keep me refreshed. So many people have commented on how much better I’m shooting.

When I have a game day booked Ed always contacts me the day before for a chat and then afterwards to find out how I got on and if there’s anything we need to work on next time. These follow ups from lessons are always nice and it’s great that he takes such an interest in his clients.

“I started training with Ed about 5 years ago at a time where I had almost lost all enjoyment of shotgun shooting, as right to left targets felt impossible to the stage I would be nervous of being in line with birds coming to the left side.

Ed was recommended to me, and as a fellow left hander felt he would understand me well. We quickly identified a slight eye dominance issue, and with the use of a small spot on my glasses my shooting showed quick improvement, particularly on targets to my left side, we have been working mostly on driven/game orientated targets as this is my true passion. I am certainly no expert however I have become more and more passionate about my game shooting because of the improvement.

I have had the good fortune to shoot at some of the great shoots in the UK, Brigands/Chargot/Llechweddygarth and Sweet Lamb and I wouldn't have had the confidence to do this without my training with Ed! Would highly recommend.

It would be easy to feel overwhelmed by Ed’s presence as your instructor, with him being a world champion clay shooter.

He has this uncanny ability of helping you to improve your shooting, whether at the traps or in the field on a game drive, whilst feeling completely at ease, enabling you to get the best out of his instruction and to enjoy the occasion.”

Thanks for all of your help, very much looking forward to our next adventure”

After having a very inconsistent season, I called Ed to arrange some lessons. We met at sporting targets, we shot a variety of clays so Ed could take a look at my fundamentals and shooting style.

Ed made some small adjustments to the way I approached targets and a slight change to my mount, to give me a consistent platform to start from. We then went for some infield instruction as a follow up, Ed put me at ease throughout, noting that most of my issues were related to set-up and rushing when game shooting. Since having the instruction my consistency when game shooting has drastically improved

“After spending many years travelling the world sampling some of the greatest shooting their is to offer I found myself in need of ‘wanting’ to be a better shot. After a conversation with my staff,

I requested them to find me the a coach that had not only been a decorated shot themselves but someone that has the ability to verbalise the methods and techniques needed to become great.

Once my director of shooting had drawn up a short list of possible coaches, I spent many minutes going through online video clips and decided I wanted a coach that didn’t like hearing their own voice only and gave clear, concise instructions. I made the final choice based on decency, honour and dedication to improving the students shooting ability and the clear front runner was Edward Solomon’s.

Over the last 6 years, Edward has coached me ‘on peg’ and also shot at the same game shoots which I found incredibly helpful watching him effortlessly bring down the highest of game birds. The methods Edward employs are easy to understand, clear and to the point, some of which I use when running my multi-national business empire so I appreciate his dedication to making the people around him better.

Edward is ‘the one and only’ and I have recommended him to many of my friends and family and with his continued help and support my shooting abilities will improve as I aspire to shoot as well as he does.”

“After taking the plunge to address my eye dominance issue and shooting 1 eye closed for 30 years, I approached Ed to assist me.

My ability was low and confidence lower, after making the switch and shooting left handed. On my first lesson reinforced that shooting left handed was the right choice for me and from there, confidence has grown. Ed’s time has enabled me to not only enjoy my game shooting but this season he has given me the skills to read birds and shoot some some great high birds and crossers with a degree of consistency that I have never had before. I no longer feel like my shooting is guesswork it is a much more controlled, measured and consistent approach”
